Laura

Name: Ailen Laura Rey Age: 18 Sex: Female Country: Argentina Languages spoken: Spanish, English, and a little French Interests: I am interested in researching social issues and how I can give help to anyone who needs it. Apart from that, I like drawing, writing poems, listening to music, watching TV (sitcoms, cartoons, news), going out, navigating in the Internet, and chatting. I have learned sign language, too. Issues: I think all the issues such as poverty, war, AIDS, and disability are equally relevant, because it doesn't matter how many people are affected by them; the important thing is that all these problems affect people the same way. Experience: I have a little experience in the social field. I went to a few meetings for an organization which defends disabled people. Also, I once worked with a foundation that helps under-privileged children with school. In our group, Article 2, we are doing our best to make a difference. We have also sent condolence letters to the victims' families of the Beslan terrorist attack in Russia. We also sent letters and drawings to the children affected by the tsunami. Now we are making this newsletter to inform the young people about what is happening in the world and what we are doing to make a change. My ideal world: It would be one without discrimination so we can respect different points of view and see each other as equals. We are not different countries but one world in which we are all united, regardless of the differences among our cultures! It would be a world in which human rights come without a price and money is well distributed- a world in which powerful people cannot dominate and war or dictatorships will not exist.
